Easingwold Community Library is the lucky recipient of some beautiful picture books for children, presented by Easingwold District Lions during a recent visit.
Lions John Sutherland and Cassandra Bullock presented four books which have been signed by their author, Ellie Jackson. The books tell the tales of four animals that struggle to escape man-made threats to their environments. Nelson’s Dangerous Dive is about ghost nets in our oceans. Buddy’s Rainforest Rescue has an Orang-utan coping with logging as his home disappears. Marley’s Tangled Tale is about a penguin caught in plastic netting. Duffy’s Lucky Escape features a turtle who has a close shave with masses of plastic bottles.
These bright and attractive books are aimed at children in Years 5 and 6 but can, of course, be read to younger children. They’re a brilliant way of getting the message across about caring for the environment – for the sake of animals and humans.
The books are on display to read in the library. The Lions have also presented copies of the books to each local primary school so if your child likes them they’ll also be able to find them when they return to school!
Many thanks to Easingwold District Lions.
