Very sad news this week that much-loved children’s author Shirley Hughes has passed away at the age of 94.
Shirley’s engaging and delightful stories and illustrations – perhaps most famously ‘Alfie’ and ‘Dogger’ – have brought joy to generations of children. During her long career she illustrated over 200 children’s books and sold more than 10 million copies. Her story-telling legacy will live on forever.
Drop by the library this week to see a display of Shirley’s books, all available to borrow and enjoy with your young ones.
RIP Shirley – we know you’ll be kicking through a pile of leaves in your wellies somewhere in heaven.
