Who can take part?

Anyone aged 18+ with an adult North Yorkshire Libraries card.

No library card? No problem. You can join the library to take part. It’s easy, quick and free.

When is it running?

From Monday 19th January until Sunday 12th April 2026.

How does it work?

Choose one book from each of four categories and read or listen to them during the challenge period:

1. A book you’ve read before.

2. A book shorter than 250 pages.

3. A non-fiction book about a hobby or interest.

4. A book published in 2025.

They can be physical books, eBooks, audiobooks, eAudiobooks or graphic novels.

All items must be borrowed from North Yorkshire Libraries or the North Yorkshire Digital Library.

One book = one category. You cannot count a particular book more than once.

How do I record my reading?

Simply write the titles on the entry form provided when you join the Challenge and then return the form to the library when you’ve finished.

How will the prize draws work?

Easingwold library will draw from all completed entries received from its members by the Challenge closing date. The draw winner will receive a book token.

All completed entries will be entered into a county-wide draw by North Yorkshire Libraries HQ for .a reading-themed hamper including items such as a tote bag, noise-cancelling headphones, book light, reading pillow, page holder, Amazon Echo Pop or a reading journal. Note: example contents only – the final selection may differ.
