More than a million people in the UK are estimated to live with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) during the winter months as a result of reduced access to natural light. Wintering Well Kits are now available to borrow from local libraries, including Easingwold Community Library.
Funded by an Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grant, the new kits aim to help alleviate the mental and physical problems caused by SAD. Each contains a therapeutic light lamp and a guide with tips on simple indoor and outdoor activities that can help support a healthy new winter routine. Kit borrowers can also access a free online course aimed at helping to counter the effects of SAD.
NB: Information is included about how to use the lamp safely. The manufacturer does not recommend that children under the age of seven use bright light therapy lamps as their eyes are still developing.
Pop into the library if you’d like to order (with no reservation fee) a Wintering Well Kit kit..
